Reddit, of what food or drink can you almost not comprehend other people actually like?

  1. My family from my mom's side are all Russians, Ukranians, and all sorts of slav ancestry, so in my childhood whenever there was a holiday or celebration, that's the type of food I had to eat. For the most part I didn't mind, most of the stuff is actually pretty damn good. Pieragi, Borscht, Vareniki, Catliety, Blini... all delicious. Except my greatest enemy: **Kholodets**. Basically, pig feet with herbs, cheese and some other stuff suspended in clear jell-o. Vile, disgusting stuff, and for some unfathomable reason whenever they served everybody seemed to explode in joy.

  2. A dish my aunt makes for family dinners called "Lime jello, marshmallow, cottage cheese *surprise*."

  3. Nattō (fermented beans) Smells terrible, looks like pinto beans mixed with snot. It's an assault on pretty much every sense, and I can't for the life of me understand why it's still popular.

  4. My gf is Asian and she likes "soup" only it's a pot of salty water with floating cabbage.

  5. Fresh young coconut meat is soft, sweet, and creamy. Why would people desiccate it and turn it into vaguely coconut-flavored sawdust? The remaining flavor in desiccated coconut isn't even the good parts of the flavor of coconut. I can't imagine why anyone would choose desiccated coconut over fresh coconut. EDIT: I just woke up to a bunch of notifications... I'm from the Philippines where beaches are everywhere and fresh young coconuts are about PHP 30 (Around 0.5 euro or 0.6 usd) each - juice, meat, and sometimes colorful straw included. May God have mercy upon you people who haven't tasted fresh coconut before.
