What's a generally accepted thing that you find extremely pretentious?
- Starting a condescending reply with “LOL”.
— germdisco
- Comparing what you do over the weekend. It becomes one big bragging competition to see who can glamorize their 'night out' the most
— HereWeGoTeddy
- Naming your kids things like Prince, Majesty, Queen and the like. I'd hate to be a kindergarten teacher and have to call some 6 year old little shit "HisMajesty".
— virgosdoitbetter
- King and Queen labelled clothing for couples.
Get over yourselves.
— purplemonkey55
- Posting everything you do on social media. It's not only accepted, it's expected. But 9 times out of 10 it is only to try and impress other people and pretend your life is better than it is.

- people being very critical about food in restaurants. Hell, I even find food critics prententious. Now I don't mind people who sent back food which hasnt been prepared the way it should, but dont start asking stupid questions just to show the waiter and people at your table that you know the difference between one spice and another.

- Snobby HGTVesque house searching.
"Oof, this paint color, yikes, this might be a deal breaker."
"Our budget is $300,000 and we just have to find a 4-bedroom 2,200 sq foot home in Ballard. It's just so close to our kids' school."
"Ya! Maybe if we buy it, we can knock out that wall and that wall and have an oPeN cOnCePt"
"But that's what Chip and Joanna Gains do"

- Oh man ok. I’ve been needing to get this off my chest. Alright, so I know a guy who does cool stuff for a living, he’s got a cool hip job, he’s popular and everyone loves him and wishes they could be doing what he’s doing. On this guys IG he is constantly posting picture of his “cool job.” Thats all fine, but what drives me nuts is in his postings he’s constantly acting like what he does “isn’t cool” and is always using a mild amount of self deprecating humor or saying meta comments that are like “wouldn’t it be douchey if I did this thing?” *does that thing*
Every post is “I HAVE to do this thing that’s awesome but I’m pretending like it’s normal but I’m really psyched but don’t want to seem too eager but really want people to like this and be jealous of me.”
I hate it so much. I don’t actually have an IG or follow him. But i hear about it.

- "Oh, I don't watch *TeeVee*.
Said with as much sneer as possible.

- The whole outdoors-y lifestyle thing that’s trendy now - growing a beard and a man-bun, having a lot of overpriced clothing and gear designed more for form than function (eg poler packs, Navajo blankets, etc) dragging yourself up some trail to snap Instagram pictures, bringing your go-pro to the climbing gym, overuse of the word “authentic”...
