What is a big NO-NO in cooking?
- Using insane amount of oil and then not letting that oil get properly hot before frying in it. Like if you're deep frying; the dough will just end up soaking a lot of oil into it and you'll not be very happy at all.
— Rattplats
- Never try to catch a falling knife. Just get the fuck out of the way.
— BridgetteBane
- Never put a hot glass dish on a cold surface. It ends explosively, and not in the fun way.
— JimmyL2014
- Not setting a timer and going on Reddit.
— rob5i
- Not reading through the recipe thoroughly before you start cooking.
If timing is important, make sure to have things prepped before you start.

- Using the same cutting board you used for raw meat when cutting other things like bread or vegetables for your meal! Cross contamination is the easiest way to wake up feeling like a piece of shit the next morning.
— MrYoshicom
- Don't scrape things off the cutting board using the edge of your knife... flip it over and use the spine of the blade instead.
— PirateKilt
- Cooking everything on high-heat so it 'cooks faster'
Fuck you mother-in-law and your shitty food I have to pretend to enjoy.
Edit: I know BBQing and a cooking a few things are an exception. Getting a sear or char on meats and veggies is necessary.

- Touching your eyes after handling peppers or potent spices. It's like pepper-spray lite.
— TDaswick
- Don't put water on a grease fire! You may or may not survive to learn your lesson.
— frequencity
- Don't pour grease from cooking down the sink!
— Shaggy__94
- Using a dull knife. Always use a sharp knife.
