What's the best or easiest way to have a person show their true character?

  1. Put them in charge of something with no one to answer to.

  2. My 9 year old told my 17 year old son this when he said he wasn't sure if his new girlfriend was crazy. "So what you got do do, Jack, is take her out to Starbucks, and when you go get your ice coffee.... just spill the whole thing on her."

  3. Make them use slow internet. -Jim Gaffigan

  4. Take them camping. You'll learn about who they really are really quickly.

  5. Best way? Spy on them. Easiest way? Make the angry. The right way? Spend time with them while being honest.

  6. See how they treat strangers

  7. Put them in an uncomfortable situation. People's true colors always come out when they're upset.

  8. Talk about politics and religion with them. My dad is an amazing person when you don't know his political/religious views. He treats the people he loves with a lot of respect. He's always there for me and my family. He's an amazing grandpa to my kids. The thing is, I'm in his bubble. If you're not in his bubble, then *fuck you*.

  9. Do people take "true character" to mean someone's worst possible self? All these replies are about getting the person frustrated, which I can see as being a *part* of somebody's true character, but not the whole. Personally, I'd say the best way is to see them talk about/perform/ interact with something they're truly passionate about. I feel like I see people most clearly when they're unguarded and fully focused on whatever it is they love the most or feel the strongest about.
