How did you meet your best friend?
- My mom had badgered me on the way to school that day to try and make at least one friend that day. I was five and painfully shy so... I wasn't really into the notion.
Destiny didn't give a shit that day though. I was on the playground hiding under the slide playing with a small toy dog I brought with me to school, when I heard her start humming to herself. She had on a bright pink dress so she stuck out pretty well.
I walked over and held out my toy dog and asked if she wanted to be friends. She stared at me for like 5 years and then was just like "YEEEEAAAHHHHH!" We ran fucking wild all over the playground for however long we had left on recess.
It's amazing to think we've been so close for almost 30 years now.

- Xchat if anyone knows what that is, but it was a chat dedicated to Avatar fans at the time (the one with fire nation not blue aliens)

- His girlfriend was my ex. He hated me when we first met, but sometime later she dumped him and I felt sorry for the guy and helped him through it. 12 years later he and I are still close buddies

- 1st day of college I had the door of my room open and some other kid walks in, sits on my bed and asked how it was going. He proceeded to never leave my room as he hated his roommate. We've been roommates since.

- It was a beautiful day on September 1985. My mother took my 9-years-old self to go pick up my older sister at kindergarten. She decided to go a little early, so I could have a bit of fresh-air at the park while waiting for my sister to come out.
That same day, my best friend mom's took her 6-months-old baby to go pick up his older brother. She, too, thought it was a beautiful day to take the baby out at the park while waiting for her older son.
Our moms started to talk a bit at the park. Legends says that I pointed and babble at the other stroller and smiled at the other baby. The baby who was crying, and stopped when he saw another baby. We then exchanged a lot of "babababa" and "bibuabu", and spit bubbles. We laughed a lot, too, apparently.
We've been best friend since then.

- I adopted her from some people who couldn't take care of her anymore. She's a great pal, but man does she love food and knocking stuff off the table with her tail.

- He moved in to an apartment above mine a few years back. He's tall, built well, and pretty scary, so I avoided eye contact as much as possible.
He liked sitting on the stairs leading to his apartment and having a beer every day after work, so it was hard, but I managed not to say anything for a few weeks.
One day I was walking into my apartment and he said, "So you just ain't gonna say nothin'?" It was like it hit me all at once: I'm insecure and racist and inconsiderate.
I walked halfway up the stairs and started blabbering, "I'm sorry man, I don't know what's wrong with-"
He was on the phone.
He hung up pretty quick and introduced himself and said something like, "I was wonderin' when you were gonna say something."

- I met mine during a class concert. We weren't allowed to leave the practise zone until after the concert finished. I walked up to her and said "I really don't want to be here."
She later said the reason we became friends is because I was the only person not to mention her British accent and ask her to say "Harry Potter"

- My mum gave birth to him three years before she gave birth to me. I've been told we were introduced fairly early on in my life, but i can't recall the exact circumstances.

- At one of my friends parties.
I was really drunk and started chatting to her because I noticed she wasn't socialising with anyone else. Something must have clicked because we started chatting on facebook nearly everyday after the party and found we liked a lot of similar things.
Not long after that and a lot of chatting later, it just kinda felt like we'd known each other for ages because we knew so much about the other. I trust her more than most other people in my life and we've helped each other through some tough times already.
Sometimes just a simple chat can introduce some great people into your life.

- I met him the first day of high school because we had the same English class but we didn't become friends until halfway through the school year when I joined he football team and we were paired to workout together. After hanging out a bunch and becoming good friends he told me that he was afraid of me at first because I had this stank face and it always looked like I wanted to kick someone's ass all the time. I grew up in a rough neighborhood and I guess it rubbed off on me. This bed the case with my 2 other closest friends in high school.
We're still best friends now and we laugh about it.
