  8. The tongue map of taste buds. It's totally false. In fact, the scientific consensus knew it was wrong when it was created. It was based on a misunderstanding of a poor translation of a scientific paper from about 100 years ago, and has been taught as fact ever since. Different areas of the tongue do not have taste buds for specific tastes. We can taste any kind of taste across our entire tongue.
