How do you handle disciplining an employee that is more important to the company than his boss?

- My workplace just writes him up and that is it. The guy is a massive prick that knows how important he is to the company. His employee file is massive because of all the write-ups.
One thing I've noticed is that he makes it a point to try and become buddy buddy with a new boss .... but only if he is a man. The guy is a misogynist and can't do that if his boss is a woman.
