What are some movies that should have stopped at the first one?

  1. The Hangover. If they left it at one, it'd be considered a classic today. Instead it just... m'eh.

  2. Most (all?) Disney movie sequels that went direct to video.

  3. The Hobbit should have been one film. One good fucking film.

  4. Dumb and Dumber Zoolander Anchorman

  5. Mean Girls there's a Mean Girls too but it's not even vaguely the same except that the principal is played by the same guy...

  6. Divergent. It went off the cliff after the first movie, which was packed with enough action to make up for the fact that is was all in all derivative mindless drivel. Had it been a standalone, it would be remembered as that discount Hunger Games movie, but the industry’s besetting need for milkable franchises turned it into a laughing stock.

  7. Independence Day

  8. Highlander. They even tagged it "There Can Be Only One".

  9. The Land Before Time The original was a classic which had Disney shaking in their boots. Then a forgettable sequel came out. Then another. Then another. Then, well just take it away Wikipedia : The Land Before Time (1988) The Great Valley Adventure (1994) The Time of the Great Giving (1995) Journey Through the Mists (1996) The Mysterious Island (1997) The Secret of Saurus Rock (1998) The Stone of Cold Fire (2000) The Big Freeze (2001) Journey to Big Water (2002) The Great Longneck Migration (2003) Invasion of the Tinysauruses (2005) The Great Day of the Flyers (2006) The Wisdom of Friends (2007) Journey of the Brave (2016)
