Reddit, what was Hollywood's worst casting choice?
- Nicholas Cage was the first choice for Aragorn in LOTR. Thank god he said no... Would have completely ruined it
EDIT: [Here's](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/u2lK86pa3PM/maxresdefault.jpg) a preview of what we almost got, people. "A day may come when the courage of man fails..."

- The baby in American Sniper.

- Everyone in Percy Jackson. They're supposed to be 13yr, not mid in their 20s.

- Every single teen movie where the cast is in their mid-20s. I never noticed it until I became a teenager and the characters were set to be around my age. I noticed that they all looked like college kids and now it bothers me a lot

- Replacing Rachel Weisz with Maria Bello in The Mummy 3.
— Schnutzel
- I'm torn saying this because I've enjoyed both Jack Reacher films, but Tom Cruise is NOTHING like Jack Reacher. The character is 6'5", 250lbs with hands the size of supermarket chickens. In the books much of his fighting style is based on his body mechanics.
Tom Cruise just isn't even close. He does however make a good action film. Does it count as poorly cast if you actually enjoy the performance??

- [That half melted god-aweful Claymation abortion](http://img1.looper.com/img/gallery/movie-series-you-didnt-know-kept-releasing-low-budget-sequels/intro.jpg) at the end of The Mummy Returns.
Why not just make it a re-incarnation of the rock? why did it have to be 1/2 a scorpion and half a playdoh turd?
— BlueFalconPunch
- John Wayne as Ghengis Khan.
