Doctors/health professionals of Reddit, what is the most unhealthy person, that believed they were fine, you've dealt with?
- Eating disorders are always tough ones. It’s incredible how a woman who is 5’9 and 100 pounds can look in the mirror and truly believe she’s overweight. I work in a residential eating disorder treatment facility, and residents constantly believe that they aren’t sick enough to be in the facility... despite the fact that they are constantly trying to exercise to burn calories, or come up with sneaky ways to hide their food at the table. The ED takes over your whole brain at a certain point, and it’s such a tough cycle to intervene in.

- I was trying to have a difficult conversation with an obese patient to tell him he had gotten type 2 adult onset diabetes, but for some reason his friend came with him and insisted to wear the patient gown and get tested as well. After these two fellows had some nonsensical conversation and an impromptu wrestling match, I had to break the news to the friend that he was anemic. Apparently he had been trying to go for a gaunt "Christ on the cross" look and had been severely malnourishing himself. Finally, after some more nonsensical conversation, the friend became so exhausted from not eating that they both left.

- Not a doctor or anything but my husband gave himself septic shock with a 107 fever b he refused to go to the doctor and was about to go on a pt test to include a 2 mile run when his peers locked him in a room and called an ambulance.
He got an IV in his neck, the whites of his eyes were full of blood, his skin had like blood rashes everywhere.
He got taken to two different hospitals and his drs told his parents they don’t know how he is still alive and that it is pure dumb luck bc he was already in the stage that his organs were actively shutting down and stuff.
He’s lucky he didn’t need any organ transplants or anything but he had to sign some waiver to get the IV in his neck bc how dangerous it is.
Then for weeks afterwards his skin on his hands and feet peeled off like in thick ass layers it was disgusting. I tried to google why and the best result I could find was basically it already started to die or some shit, it was a result of the septic shock.
He still refuses to go to the doctor he won’t even take symptomatic medicine and completely believes that he can beat anything you NEED antibiotics for. Which is exactly why he put himself in that situation to begin with.

- Presidential witch doctor here. Had this orange guy pay me to write his own health description, jokes on him I would have done it for free.
