What does not seem dangerous but actually is?

  1. Every time this question is asked someone says garage doors springs. I don't know how dangerous they actually are but apparently they are very dangerous.

  2. Escalators. To you they may seem safe but have a kid or even a toddler decide that the gap between the shiny floor and the wall is a good place to put a hand, get ready for their hand or arm to be ripped off. My family is in the elevator business which coincides with escalators. For me to be able to become an inspector for elevators i had to do a short course on escalators, My classmates and i were required to view videos and see pictures of accidents on escalators. If i ever have a kid they're not touching those machines.

  3. Ticks. Sooo many diseases. I have nightmares of getting Alpha-Gal in particular; it gives you a meat allergy. Would you like a side of anaphylactic shock with your burger, steak, hot dog, taco, etc?

  5. Texting and driving. Checking your phone for a quick 2-3 second "lol" doesn't seem like a lot, but in car can mean death for you or, usually from what I notice, someone else.

  6. Tylenol. I know people that say they take 3 every hour until their aches go away, and they take it for everything from congestion to acha and pains to sprained ankles. I tried to explain to them that the main drug in it is hella scary and bad for your liver and renal system but they don't listen. One ended up in the hospital after a cold with problems because they were mixing cough medicine and Tylenol for pains and they still don't believe it. They think they just took too much cough medicine, so now they take more Tylenol instead. It is ridiculous.

  9. Horse-Riding. It is one of the most dangerous activities. Statistically less than 100 hours of riding lead to one severe injury.

  10. Giving birth to a child... so many women (and/or their babies) used to die in childbirth before modern medicine. I think we sometimes forget how insane it is that you make a human in your body, and then your body forces them out through a comparatively tiny hole...

  11. Underwater currents. Looks like a regular part of the beach, but it kills you by pulling you unter, out to sea or both. Tip: If you get caught in one, swim along with it and to the side to escape.
