[Serious][NSFW] What are the scariest things that have happened here on Reddit?

  1. After reading this thread for the past 20 minutes I want to go to a different planet

  2. I'm too lazy to find it, but there was an ask reddit thread of confessions, and there was some dude who owned a rental property and stuffed a rag in the exhaust pipe of a water heater during maintenance. Well he forgot about the rag and put everything back together. Something like a day later the family living there died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and apparently the guy never owned up. Not sure if true, and not really scary, but fucked up to be sure.

  3. The top post in /r/JustNoMIL is by a mother whose daughter was killed by her grandmother. The daughter was allergic to coconuts and the grandmother knew it, but she used coconut oil to braid the daughter's hair, gave her a children's Benadryl when she started to have a reaction, and put her to bed. I just re-read it last night. It's heartbreaking and infuriating. Edit: it was the parent's mother, not MIL. Thanks to those who pointed this out. Tried to edit for clarity...hopefully?

  4. I can't remember the exact specifics but there was a true denko situation here on reddit with some nutjub that kept posting to like, /r/relationships asking for help with his dating situation. It turned out he was stalking some writer on a games site. It got so bad she got a restraining order. But he kept posting to reddit trying to defend himself and his 'love' and that he truly thought she loved him back and only had to meet him or see what he'd do for her to know they were meant to be. He did this several times and would argue with all the people in the comments who told him to leave her the fuck alone and that he was creepy and needed to seek professional help, etc. In his mind, what he was doing was perfectly normal and he loved her and she loved him but didn't realize it yet. IIRC one of his last posts was that he was going to try and physically find her and confront her somewhere so she'd finally realize she loved him. What was so scary about it was seeing into the mind of a delusional person who could not be swayed by any amount of rationality. For a lot of people who have had stalkers, I think it was terrifying to see the 'face' of someone like that who caused them so much pain over the years. And for people who have never had stalkers, I think it was an eye-opener that people like that really do exist and aren't just made up for movies. I don't know what happened to the guy but I hope he was arrested and sent somewhere he could get some actual help. That poor woman. edit: /u/X-ScissorSisters found him. Be warned, his post history is pretty alarming: https://www.reddit.com/user/darylprat
