What is something everyone should do before turning 20?

  1. Have a 19th birthday.

  2. Start learning a skill as a hobby like playing an instrument, drawing/painting, writing, etc. if nothing else it makes you a more interesting person and it’s harder to find time to learn this stuff later on

  3. Some say "save money", others "travel the world". Which do I believe?!?
    — Fede-K

  5. Open a savings account and commit to putting *something* in it every month, even if you can only afford $2 to start with.

  6. Be forced to live on a budget. Even if the income is provided to them, they should learn how to cover basic needs on their own.
    — kylathekoala

  7. If you smoke, stop. Your body will thank you so much and you'll feel so much better than you would if you keep smoking. I'm 28 and I've smoked since I was 16 and can definitely see the toll it's played on my body. Also, everyone says it's easy to quit, you just don't think about them. That's bullshit. Nicotine creates an addiction you wouldn't believe and it never really goes away. You may quit for a month and then just randomly you'll think "oh wow, a cigarette sounds so good right now" and get that urge you have to fight. There's no worse feeling in the world than not feeling in control of yourself because of an addiction or not feeling strong enough to beat it. Learn from my mistakes, don't smoke for years because it's cool or your friends do it and end up hacking nasty shit up all the time

  8. Travel to somewhere far away. Either to a different state, the other side of their country, or the other side of the world. Even better: do it by yourself. I drove from Florida to California by myself at 18, visiting Dallas, Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. It was one of the best times in my entire life.

  9. Learn to take advice. It really helps to be open minded.

    — ForgotPassAgain34

  11. Start building credit score. Only spend what you actually have in your account and pay the card off in full.

  12. If they haven't already, get a job.
