  3. **Running**! If you look online, almost everyone people goes from absolutely NO exercise at all and heavily overweight to running a mile in 8-10minutes on their first try. Some of them start at 13 minutes per mile and then in a few weeks, they finish a 5k at an 8minute pace. I've been running for about a year to verrrry slowly climb from 13 minutes per mile to just barely 10 minutes per mile. As context, I've seen runners talk about speed potential in the general public and discuss a hypothetical terrible runner who's never run before trying to do a 5k, they assume they run at about 10 minutes per mile to start and expect that they should get to about 7 minutes in about a year. Other runners respond saying that's ridiculous that someone would run a 10 minute pace, saying that's basically walking, they must not even be trying. So yeah, doesn't feel good to find out that I've been struggling just to reach the level of the worst imaginable hypothetical runner. I don't talk to anyone in real life about speeds/times so that they don't find out. Running forums tend to be pretty toxic places where only people who are proud of their speed will speak up to brag, or to humblebrag at how slow their 6:30 pace is.
