How did your friend group fall apart?

  1. University ended and we all moved to different places. Another one we all ended up leaving the job around the same time and the group didn't hold without work to tie us together even though previously we had socialised outside of work a lot.

  2. People stopped logging into the MMO we were playing together. I don’t have real life friends.

  3. There was a group of 6 of us at uni who used to grab lunch and drink together after class. For about a year we were thick as thieves and eventually a girl and guy after one drunken session hooked up and began to date. Things went along fairly normally for another year until one day out of the blue she broke up with him with zero explanation other than "sometimes I think I might hate you". Understandably he wasn't the happiest with this news but being mature didn't get angry or ask us not to speak to her as we had no allegiance to one person over the other. However it got worse when she then ended up dating another girl in the group (we were a liberal bunch) and promptly ostracised themselves as it was pretty obvious that they had got together when she was dating the guy. Eventually they broke up and my friend's ex tried to get back into the group but by then we were all just fed up so she drifted away. The girl who slept with my friend's girlfriend actually then ended up dating one of his male friends and is a decade later still with him. That ruined his friendship with his friend and pretty much meant no one would speak to her again (which to be honest I wasn't exactly gutted about). Now out of that group it's just the guy who was cheated on and me who speak to each other. Tldr: sex

  5. We were tight as brothers living on Guam and then our parents got orders to other parts of the world

  6. Here's a downer: In college, we had a friend who raped another friend. That's when things fell apart.

  7. The slow erosion of time. You still get together sometimes, but your talk is more about the past than any kind of future plans you have with one another. One is happily married with a family, one isn't. One guy lives far away and only sees the rest occasionally. One is expecting a new child, which will only keep him occupied even more. Life was simple once, a long time ago. But that's how life is.

  8. Shortly after we all graduated college. Some got jobs, some got girlfriends, some just disappeared, others just became to busy, while others moved to places far away.

  9. I quit drinking when my son was born. Turns out all my friends were drinking buddies and not real friends. We cross paths a few times a year and reminice about funny moments or stories and attempt to make plans but it's not what it was and never will be again. Sometimes that's unfortunate but other times I think I am happier as a functional adult and father. I'm happy to have the memories.

  10. In college one of my friends started dating this guy, totally fell for him. One night after going out clubbing, a whole group of people were sleeping at our place- student house so people were on couches, the floor, where ever So this guy started feeling up one of my other friends, tried to pull down her pants etc while his girlfriend was asleep- pretty much sexually assaulted her This girl didn’t tell the girlfriend immediately, I don’t know why exactly. But it all came out shortly afterwards, the guy said ‘she was the one coming onto me’ - girlfriend chose him

  11. I moved out of town for work, one friend knocked up another with twins, another joined R&W Crew(Hells Angels), one disappeared into drug abuse, some died. Wasn’t much left in the end.

  12. Things were always simmering underneath the surface and one day they just kind of blew apart. The stoner of our group was interested in our nerdy but dependable friend, who in turn was interested in me, but I was utterly in love with the most beautiful redhead you've ever seen. Unfortunately for me I think the only person she's capable of loving is herself. Anyway, we used to solve mysteries and shit but those days are long gone.
