What's the best videogame opening?

  1. I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose the impossible I chose... ....rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well.

  2. I like the Borderlands and Borderlands 2 openings. They set the tone of the game incredibly well. The opening videos, not the intro parts. Also the Fallout 4 opening, but I think it would've been a better opener for Fallout 3. The history part, that is. Not the "My father" stuff.
    — SuperKing0001

  3. Bioshock infinite.

  4. “On your feet, soldier! We are leaving!” “Since when does Shepard care about danger close?” The modern warfare series was so good
    — ChildrenzAdvil

  5. Fallout 3. From being born to those first steps outside the vault, loved that.
    — CavemanFromSpace

  6. I really like the opening of Mass Effect 2. Everything's going fine, then all of a sudden there is an attack, and then when Shepherd is blown out into space, I was shocked.
    — jpterodactyl

  7. Portal 2 “Now, say ‘apple’...now, what you’re doing there is jumping...”
    — Consequentially

  8. I enjoyed the opening of Far Cry 3. Pulled me right in. Vaas was an interesting character
    — Acaedus

  9. Fallout 4 had a pretty solid opening. With the intro monolog and then seeing the start of the war.
    — QuasarDelta

  10. Really enjoyed the opening scene of The Last Of Us. Goddamn was it sad though.
    — CaptainReggie

  11. Kingdom Hearts. They are all soooo good

  12. Dragon Age: Inquisition. I played both DA:O and DA:II, expecting a war between mages and templars. Here comes DA:I's menu screen, Mages, and Templars are marching somewhere, huh? I press New Game and them boom, a freaking explosion, killed all of them. WTF?

  13. MGSV's seemingly endless opening left me saying "what the fuck is even going on?!" But I thought it was amazing.

  14. Half Life 2. It was the first time I felt like I was immersed in a dystopia.
    — rayven1lk

  15. The opening heist of Saints Row 3 set the tone of the game so incredibly well. The rest of the game was maybe hit or miss, but damn that intro sequence was amazing.
