What has been a celebrity's biggest fall from fame ?

  1. Kevin Spacey just got deleted from a movie. Can't do much worse...
    — Utegenthal

  2. I'd imagine OJ Simpson would be in the top 10... maybe top 5.
    — LexiiConn

  3. I'm guessing that Bill Cosby is going to be on this list, if not on the top of it. From successful Jello sales man to...well...
    — Meatros

  4. Peter Brough was a famous British radio ventriloquist. Millions tuned in to listen, hundreds of thousands joined the fan club. He lost popularity rapidly when TV started becoming big because the audience could see his lips moving.

  5. Oscar Pistorius.

  6. Jimmy Savile. Probably not widely known outside the UK, his life was phenomenally successful by anyone’s standards. He basically invented the idea of being paid to play records as one of the first ever DJs. Following on from that, he was one of the first presenters for UK music show “Top of the Pops”. Later in life, he fronted a show called “Jim’ll Fix It”. The premise was simple: kid writes in with outlandish but ultimately fixable wish (eg. “Sing in a band”, “design a new ice cream”), Jim fixes it for that wish to happen, cut to studio where he presents them with a medal. This show was prime time UK TV for something like twenty or thirty years; literally every Brit who grew up in that timeframe can sing the theme tune. When he wasn’t presenting such shows, he was raising money for his chosen charity - a children’s hospital in his hometown of Leeds. He ran marathons well into his 80’s for this. Overall, he was probably regarded as a (maybe slightly eccentric) national treasure. The fall actually came about after he died. Turns out he had another hobby that he was rather less public about - having sex with small children. His work brought him into contact with literally thousands of kids of all ages, and he took full advantage of this to his own perverted ends. And we aren’t just talking late teens here, we’re talking anything with a pulse. If anyone threatened him with exposure, he invariably retaliated with strong legal threats and a reminder that he couldn’t very well raise the millions he was raising from a prison cell. The upshot was that everyone who worked in media knew what he was like, but nobody was prepared to go on record and say it.

  7. Maybe not known outside of the UK and Australia, but Rolf Harris went from painting the Queen and performing at Glastonbury, to sitting in a prison cell.
    — excretorkitchen

  8. Jimmy Saville. Knighted by the Queen to Britain’s most despised paedophile/necrophile.
    — oblivionbaby

  9. I'm going with Aaron Hernandez. From a multi-million dollar contract with the Patriots to hanging himself in prison.
    — yawningdogge

  10. Amanda Bynes. Every time I see a more recent picture of her I draw a long sigh. She was my childhood, I miss her.

  11. Jennifer Grey. Known for her roles in the 1980s films Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) and Dirty Dancing (1987). She could have built a wonderful career, but she decided to do a nose job instead. In her own words : "I went into the operating room a celebrity and came out anonymous. It was the nose job from hell. I'll always be this once famous actress nobody recognises because of a nose job."
    — Cloverfieldstarlord

  12. I'm not sure if he could be considered a celebrity but Harvey Weinstein was considered a God in the industry at one point and he plummeted from the sky on fire faster than I've ever seen. I hope he falls into the smoking crater of prison.
