What music artist looks nothing like you thought they would when you first heard them?
- George Ezra. His voice is way deeper than you'd expect looking at him.
— KiltedLady
- Post Malone
— Skyfilth
- John Legend and Sam Smith, I thought John Legend was a white guy and Sam Smith was a black guy based on their voices. When they did "Lay me down" together I just assumed that each one was the other.
— stenunverse
- The first time I heard Feel it Still by Portugal, the Man, I thought the singer was a girl.
— FalstaffsMind
- When i first heard Rolling in the Deep, i thought Adele was black.
— Feel_Suicidal_Inc
- Iggy Azalea
I don't know pop music very well.
I heard Fancy on the radio at work a few times and thought it was Nicki Minaj or at minimum that she was black and Gwen Stefani was the gal singing the chorus. I was way off.
I'm still not totally convinced she isn't doing white face like the Wayans brothers in Hot Chicks.
— BathofFire
- when i first heard "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse, i thought it was a sixties Motown tune by a black girl group (like the Supremes) that had been given an updated remix treatment.
— psyclapse
- I was shocked to learn that the virtual Gorillaz are not an accurate representation of the real people behind the music.
— BEEFTANK_Jr
- Borns. Thought it was a younger chick singing, kinda like when Lord debuted. Nope. It's a dude.
Listen to *American Money* by him and try to tell me it sounds like a guy.
— AtlasPines
- Rick Astley
— Eatswithducks
- King Krule.
— StorminNorman
- Despite his name, [Rich Chigga](https://youtu.be/rzc3_b_KnHc) .
— internetfood
