What are the most mature responses to "Sorry, I have a boyfriend" when asking a girl out?

  1. There is no other option other than "Okay" or some polite variation thereof. No need to apologize for asking her out (why should you be sorry? You didn't know), or praising the other guy (it makes you sound like you're trying to kiss her ass). A simple, "Ah, okay! Nice talking to you." Or the like.

  5. “Oh okay” Then walk away with your dignity. Don’t apologize, don’t make a scene or get upset, don’t quiz her about it, don’t get embarrassed or run away. Seriously nothing needs to be said or done other than you calmly exiting the conversation and situation.

  6. The most mature response I’ve got was: *“I figured as such but it doesn’t hurt to ask, eh? (Proceeds to tell me about a previous date with a girl then asks advise)” The *best* response I’ve ever received was: “Well, then we’ll have to make sure we invite him to the wedding!”

  9. Just had this situation 2 weeks ago. I asked her if she would like to get coffee and she replied “ I would say yes, but I have a boyfriend”. I said “oh ok, well we can still be friends right?” She smiled and said of course! I see her every day as she works in the cafeteria of where I work at and we are still cool and have normal conversations.
