Music lovers of reddit, which small band do you want more people to listen to and why?

  1. Because I don't feel like putting in sub-categories but all are on Spotify: * The Growlers * Buke + Gase * Mr. Gnome * All Them Witches * Eels * Deer Tick * Hidden Charms * Theo Lawrence + the Hearts

  2. Shakey Graves. He's an absolutely fantastic musician and individual from the looks of it.

  3. Lake Street Dive. Indie-soul-rock. Because lead singer Rachael Price's voice is right up there with the best of them. I saw them open for Jack Johnson earlier this year and they sound even better live than on their studio tracks. https://youtu.be/lcUeothSPyc

  5. Pinegrove is an extremely underrated band. I saw them last summer in a tiny venue (a vfw post if I remember correctly). They're hella talented and are able to write some really good songs. They're one of the only bands I've seen that sounds just as good or almost even better live than in their recordings. If you want to check them out listen to their album "Cardinal" or check out this Audiotree live recording: https://youtu.be/0JvG551iDTE
    — Kill_Dozer

  6. Vulfepck. [It Gets Funkier](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yKg_3kyIhHc) is great.

  9. Jeff Rosenstock - I don't really know how to describe his music, but I guess I would classify it as indie punk? His latest album, WORRY. was USA Today's #1 album of the year, and its absolutely amazing. He uses a wide variety of instruments and is probably my favourite musician. Recommended song: [You, In Weird Cities](https://youtu.be/MbD_KegM_mQ) or [Wave Goodnight To Me](https://youtu.be/z7MPzv78cWs) PUP - a Canadian punk band. They use Finn Wolfhard (from Stranger Things and IT) in a ton of their music videos. Recommended song: [DVP](https://youtu.be/iVuB1ZASrGw) Glocca Morra - a fantastic emo band that uses a lot of synths and has really good lyrics. Sadly, they've broken up now; but their two(?) albums are great. Recommended song: [Starvation Limits/Tokyo Snow](https://youtu.be/ojzzTnLTsX4)

  10. Jose Gonzalez After hearing his music in Walter Mitty I checked out his other stuff. He's a fantastic musician.

  11. If you're a fan of: Rock/indie: Half moon run (either of their albums, I recommend dark eyes) Sylvan esso (self titled album) dance/EDM: Whethan (really good mix on SoundCloud - the cookout) Gryffin (his live Lolla 2017 performance on SoundCloud) Rap: 6Lack (album free 6lack) Some are already gaining traction, but thought still worth mentioning Edit: glad everyone agrees with the picks for the most part! Yeh, most of them are pretty established. I guess i was suggesting them more as up and comers in their respective scenes.

  12. WHY? That's the band's name. Their music is probably not for everyone, but their musical styling is so interesting and unique. The guys voice is so dreamy. And the things he sings about? Amazing. Never a dull moment.

  13. metz - steve albini-esque noise rock, amazing live shows priests - female fronted punk band from DC which really diversified on their last album. a good 80s hardcore throwback the taxpayers - music beyond buzzwords, but i'm gonna try anyway. jazz-folk-noise-punk jeff rosenstock - not super unknown, but he keeps getting better and better. it's the old bomb the music industry guy a silver mt. zion - again not super unknown, but IMO the best post-rock band in existence. an offshoot of gsy!be teen suicide - punk and lo-fi done right. excellent mood music hella - zach hill, the death grips drummer, and a dude on guitar absolutely shredding it
