  7. The methods and equipment of food-manufacturers have just sort of naturally progressed over the years, which has incidentally resulted in a longer shelf-life for their products. There are thousands of food items in the supermarket which list milk in the ingredients of their product, even though no recipe for that meal would ever include milk. Things as simple as Asian stir-fried vegetables or just plain grilled meat in the freezer section. Foods from cultures that don't even keep cows as livestock... And it's not listed as an allergen warning, but an actual ingredient. I believe that these companies have decided that the longer shelf-lives of their products is a detriment to potential profits, so rather than rolling back their technology to older methods, they just add a small amount of milk so they can shorten the expiration date -- causing people to throw away the food they bought and buy more.
