Redditors who (with hindsight) took some very bad advice from Reddit or Redditors, what happened?

  1. Someone on /r/gardening recommended I mix rubbing alcohol and water and spray it on my roseplant that had a spider mite infestation. Killed my rosebush. :(

  2. This one youtuber I follow actually asked reddit once on how to get some kind of caked in dirt out of his tub and someone actually instructed him on how to make mustard gas They told him to close all doors and windows too because it would *evaporate quickly*

  3. I can't find it, but there was a guy trying to divorce his wife, and he got the advice that he can call a lawyer and explain his case, so she won't be able to hire that same lawyer. This advice is apparently useful to prevent them from using one or two REALLY good ones. (she supposedly had a rich family. ) This guy, however, called up every lawyer in their city. As far as I know he didn't give a final update on what happened, but in his second advice thread he was asking about the problems caused by doing that, as the judge saw right through his tactic and wasn't happy with him at all. That said, I don't know if the advice was really bad, or just misinterpreted.

  4. I remember reading a post about a guy freaking out that he found what he thought was a birth control test (edit: sorry, I meant pregnancy test) in his girlfriend's bathroom. The men posting worked him up saying she was cheating while the women who pointed out that they were actually ovulation tests were ignored. Apparently he confronted her saying she was cheating and it did not end well. But I can't remember if they broke up or not. She was using those to make sure her birth control was working and that her cycle was steady.

  5. I answered that bullet is my biggest weakness in an interview one time. My interviewer was not amused. Protip: Don't be a smartass, be professional.

  6. Ended up watching a movie with some friends where a guys dick got smashed with a brick and a woman cut off her clitoris. Never again...

  7. Obligatory disclaimer: not necessarily bad advice. Just advice that ended badly, unfortunately. There’s that horrible story of the guy who took advice to divorce his wife and she ended up killing herself and the kids... *shudders* Edit: link [Asked for advice, bad outcome.](https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/5eez5c/update_lessons_and_how_you_can_help_re_the_case/?st=JHPB5IDN&sh=b92b6047) Edit: disclaimer
